The University of Denver's Morgridge College of Education invites applications for an Academic Services Coordinator (ASC) that supports college-wide academic and student services functions toward meeting the College's enrollment, retention, and graduation goals. Under the leadership of the Associate Dean of Academic and Student Affairs and within the Morgridge Academic & Student Affairs (MASA) Unit, the ASC will also serve as a liaison to one or more academic departments/programs within Morgridge and provide quality customer service both within the college and externally to DU and the community.

Position Summary

The Academic Services Coordinator (ASC) will provide generalist academic and student support for faculty, staff, and students in the Morgridge College of Education at the University of Denver. As a generalist, they are part of a team that collaborates with Morgridge Admissions to monitor matriculation of students, outreach directly to newly deposited students to support registration, communicate with faculty about students, support new student orientation, and update course scheduling and academic information in alignment various MCE and Office of Graduate Education (OGE) policies. The ASC also supports the college's graduation process in reviewing degree progression of current students, including graduation checks, and monitoring non-registration (e.g., Leaves of Absence). Additionally, as a liaison to one or more Morgridge academic departments/programs, the position will develop specialized knowledge of assigned program requirements (including licensure and accreditation as applicable) and student contacts and work closely with department chair(s) on the collection, storage, and maintenance of important information, including student files, program syllabi, and course schedules. In conjunction with other Morgridge Academic & Services Coordinators, this position helps with student engagement and retention efforts, including key communication efforts and planning and coordinating various college-wide functions such as orientation and graduation.

Essential Functions

  • Provide student services support including communicating information, requirements, and deadlines on quarterly academic processes (e.g., registration, graduation checks) in a timely manner; assisting with questions related to student status, academic progress, and student course registration; maintaining student and academic records; and compiling Probation/Non-passing grades/Incompletes grades for review.
  • Provide administrative support for assigned Morgridge department(s)/program(s) and faculty including but not limited to scheduling rooms for department and program meetings; preparation and submission of academic documents (e.g., handbooks, coursework plans); communicating information on behalf of programs/departments and facilitating communications of changes to DU/OGE policies and procedures that will affect Morgridge academic Programs.
  • Respond to various degree program inquiries and requests from internal and external Morgridge and DU constituents.
  • Provide Morgridge academic support including but not limited to quarterly faculty class and room scheduling; supporting with the maintenance of Canvas and Digication site(s); ensuring Banner and Courseleaf are accurate and updated; submitting hiring requests for quarterly adjuncts; and supporting logistics for accreditation site visits and faculty search committees.
  • Work closely with Marketing and Communications on utilizing various program and departmental list serves and email distribution lists.
  • Collaborate with other Morgridge SCs and the Events Committee to jointly organize college events and official functions with a focus on student engagement and retention efforts.
  • Ensure important registration and scheduling dates, deadlines, and correct information is communicated effectively to students and faculty through various channels, including the Morgridge website, Digication, Canvas, and Ruffatto Hall digital signage.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to assist faculty, students, and visitors in a manner consistent with the values of DU and Morgridge.
  • Excellent time management, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, plan work within larger contexts of known college and program goals, make thoughtful decisions, and work independently.
  • Quality analytical skills for understanding how role aligns with operational excellence, including enrollment goals, adjunct hiring, submitting electronic timesheets, and creating Excel spreadsheets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and proof reading ability a must.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Two years of administrative experience in an office environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Proficiency with office equipment including computers, printer, and copier
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous professional experience in higher education and/or student services.
  • Knowledge of Banner system and university policies and procedures.
Working Environment

1. Standard office environment.
2. Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high.
3. Noise level is quiet to moderate.

Physical Activities

1. Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period of time.
2. Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs.

Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. In accordance with the University's flexible work policy, this position is eligible to be considered for partial remote work. Further details regarding this plan will be determined with the hiring manager and are dependent on the division and team specific needs.

Salary Grade Number:
The salary grade for the position is 6.

Hourly Range:
The hourly range for the position is $21.50-$25.00

The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate's sex or any other protected status.
