Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit:The School of Government (School) works to improve the lives of North Carolinians by engaging in practical scholarship that helps public officials and citizens understand and improve state and local government. The Environmental Finance Center (EFC) at the School works to enhance the ability of governments and other organizations to provide environmental programs and services in effective and financially sustainable ways. The EFC reaches local communities through interactive training and technical assistance. In addition, the EFC works with decision-makers to assess and improve environmental finance policies at a regional or state level.
In support of our mission, the EFC seeks to hire an undergraduate research assistant(s) to help conduct rate surveys and complete applied research on EFC projects. Conducting rate surveys will be the primary task but additional research opportunities may be made available depending on the student's skills and interests.
An Administrative Assistant (or Research Assistant)will support the Environmental Finance Center (EFC) in data collection related to water and sewer rates and financial data. This position involves conducting outreach through email, phone calls, and web research to gather relevant information. The role will also include data entry and maintenance for various dashboards, including the water/wastewater and affordability dashboards. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, with strong communication skills, and a keen interest in environmental finance and data management.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:Experience with data collection.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:Experience in an administrative role.
