Duties Performed in the Usual Course of the Job:Sam Houston State University College of Osteopathic Medicine is seeking a part-time non-tenure track faculty member at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of the microbiology curriculum in foundational and systems-based courses. Additionally, the candidate is expected to teach topics in public health and develop and implement a comprehensive plan to improve the COMLEX Level 2 scores.
Collaborates with faculty from other departments to deliver a highly integrated curriculum. Utilizes various teaching methods, including large and small group discussions, team-based learning, case-based learning, and other interactive approaches. Contributes to exam question development in COMLEX-USA and USMLE formats. Serve as a faculty advisor and participates in student selection. Participates in university and college committees. Performs additional duties as assigned by the department chair.
A PhD, DO, MD or equivalent terminal degree in a related field from an accredited university is required.
Experience Required for the Position:Requires experience and expertise in teaching microbiology and public health. Additionally, knowledge of clerkship rotations and the residency matching process is essential to support the development of a comprehensive plan for improving COMLEX Level 2 scores.
Good interpersonal skills, effective communication skills, and the ability to work cooperatively and congenially with all faculty is required. Leadership skills and vision for enhancing the academic components of a multi-disciplinary department are essential.
This position is a fully on-site position. Travel & housing expenses for on-site work is not covered by the employer.
