Job Description Summary / TWC Summary:

The Assistant Dean of Assessment and Administration is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the comprehensive assessment and accreditation processes within The College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences. This position ensures the continuous improvement and effectiveness of academic programs and curricula, fostering an environment of excellence in education. The Assistant Dean will lead initiatives related to curriculum development, programmatic and curricular assessment, and institutional effectiveness, while serving as a subject matter expert in accreditation standards and processes.The Assistant Dean of Assessment and Administration is a pivotal leadership role within The College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences, responsible for overseeing the comprehensive assessment, accreditation, and administrative functions of the college. In addition to ensuring continuous improvement and effectiveness of academic programs and curricula, this role will guide strategic planning, policy development, and process review initiatives. The Assistant Dean will lead efforts related to curriculum development, programmatic assessment, and institutional effectiveness, while serving as an expert in accreditation standards and compliance. This position also plays a key role in fostering operational excellence and aligning administrative processes with the college's strategic goals.

Essential Duties Summary:

Curriculum Development & Assessment:

  • Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum to ensure alignment with institutional goals and accreditation standards.
  • Collaborate with faculty and academic departments to design and update course content, ensuring relevance and rigor.
  • Provide guidance on the integration of assessment data into curriculum planning and improvement.
  • Assess in the development and review of assignments, rubrics, OSCEs and other exams and assessments of learning.
  • Coordinate the systematic assessment of student learning outcomes at the course and program levels.
  • Develop and manage processes for the collection, analysis, and reporting of assessment data.
  • Ensure that assessment results are used effectively to inform curriculum revisions and improve instructional practices.

Programmatic Assessment:
  • Lead the design and execution of programmatic assessment plans, including the development of assessment tools and methodologies.
  • Analyze assessment data to identify trends, strengths, and areas for improvement in academic programs.
  • Work with program directors and faculty to implement changes based on assessment findings to enhance program quality and student learning outcomes.
  • Oversees program reviews in collaboration with other college administrators and faculty.
  • Collaborates with campus community members to develop and meet long- and short-term goals related to functional area of oversight.
  • Collaborates with college administrators, advisory boards, and faculty to develop and meet long- and short-term goals.

Institutional Effectiveness:
  • Collaborate with institutional research and other departments to align assessment activities with institutional effectiveness initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation requirements and prepare necessary documentation for accreditation reviews and reports.
  • Lead the development and implementation of strategies to enhance the overall effectiveness of the institution's academic programs.

Accreditation:
  • Serves as the Accreditation Liaison Officer for COPHS with its accreditors and with state and federal regulators.
  • Supports and directs departments or programs in preparation for accreditation visits.
  • Coordinate's submission of all reports related to accreditation (including annual reports, reaccreditation follow-up reports, substantive change notifications, and reaccreditation self-study reports).
  • Provides leadership and oversight in conducting self-study assessments, setting timelines, overseeing steering committee operations, developing reports, and supervising preparation of draft and final submissions of all required documents.

Administration:
  • Lead strategic planning initiatives to ensure alignment with the college's long-term goals, fostering collaboration across departments and implementing measurable objectives.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee policy and process improvements, ensuring operational efficiency and compliance with institutional and external regulations.
  • Coordinate administrative operations, including resource allocation, budget planning, and staff development, to support the continuous growth and success of academic programs.
  • Review and streamline college-wide administrative processes, ensuring consistent application of best practices and optimizing workflows to enhance institutional effectiveness.

Leadership:
  • Leads the collection, analysis, and reporting of data related to outcomes and program efforts.
  • Supports and directs departments or programs in preparation for accreditation visits.
  • Provide strategic leadership and vision for processes, organization, assessment, and accreditation efforts across the college.
  • Serve on the college educational effectiveness committees and other relevant committees, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Mentor and support faculty and staff in their strategic, assessment and accreditation-related activities.
  • Leads significant college-wide initiatives, such as large-scale strategic initiatives, program assessment, curricular revisions, expansion and growth, new program development and accreditation efforts or other significant academic initiatives, ensuring engagement from appropriate members of the campus community

Subject Matter Expertise:
  • Serve as the college expert on strategic planning, accreditation standards, processes, and best practices.
  • Stay current with trends and developments in higher education, assessment, and accreditation.
  • Represent the institution at related meetings, conferences, and workshops.
  • Maintains professional development and activities to upgrade and augment existing skills or develop new ones.
  • Facilitate professional development opportunities for faculty, administration, and staff
  • Maintains affiliation with necessary professional organizations.

Hiring Range:

$113,285.61 - $147,271.29

Education:

Master's degree in a related field required. Doctoral Degree in a related field preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Requires working knowledge of specialized practices, compliance, and procedures.
  • Microsoft Office Professional or similar application.
  • Experience managing data, data analysis, and report-writing to secure external accreditation.
  • Strong ability to collect, analyze, and present data in a cohesive manner to drive data informed recommendations.
  • Experience with online portfolio software.
  • Experience with learning management systems such as Blackboard.
  • Experience managing change initiatives including program review, assessment, improvement, project planning, and data-based decision-making concepts.
  • Strong writing skills and ability to communicate clearly in writing.
  • Strong collaboration skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum 5-7 years' experience in higher education assessment; educational outcomes or assessment experience.
  • Knowledge and experience with survey systems (i.e., Qualtrics) and statistical methodology and software
  • Experience working with faculty on assessment and accreditation.
Working/Environmental Conditions:

  • Routine office environment.
  • Sitting or standing in one location much of the time.
  • Use of video display terminal.
