SUMMARY:

The Assistant Director's primary responsibilities are to 1) manage a University fundraising program for the undergraduate senior class; 2) develop and execute a plan to educate all undergraduate students about the importance of philanthropic support to the University and encourage them to give back as students and alumni; and 3) to support the coordination of yearly events for the Office of Annual Giving.

The Assistant Director will hire annually and supervise student interns to co-lead the Senior Legacy Committee. The Assistant Director will work with these interns to develop strategies to encourage seniors to participate in the class gift, including planning events and facilitating communications for that purpose. Working closely with the Associate Director of Annual Giving, the Assistant Director will also create ways to educate all undergraduate students about philanthropy at the University. The Assistant Director will also support the planning and execution of Annual Giving event logistics each year, including all Senior Legacy events, an on-campus Giving Day event, and the Reunion Weekend Greek Theatre Party.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead fundraising efforts for the undergraduate senior class. Develop strategies and programs to educate all undergraduate students about the importance of philanthropy to the University, starting at the freshman year.

  • In coordination with the Associate Director of Annual Giving and the Senior Associate Director of Annual Giving Operations will establish:
    • Aggressive yearly participation goal for the senior class
    • Fundraising strategies for students, including peer to peer solicitation, crowdfunding, social media, and e-mail solicitation
  • Identify, recruit, train and manage senior student interns each year to co-chair the Senior Legacy Committee
    • Lead weekly meetings to train and assign tasks to interns
    • Assist interns in planning fundraising events that are engaging for seniors
  • Manage the Senior Legacy Campaign
    • Guide the senior student interns in recruiting and co-leading a robust senior class committee to support fundraising efforts, including but not limited to creating communications (emails, social media), scheduling committee meetings, and planning fundraising events
  • Monitor and analyze progress toward goals and report to the Associate Director of Annual Giving
  • Work alongside the Assistant Director of Student and Young Graduate Programming in the Alumni Engagement Office to coordinate efforts to engage all undergraduate students and assist in efforts to engage young graduates
Support coordination of yearly events for the Office of Annual Giving
  • Work with Annual Giving colleagues to coordinate event logistics, including catering, décor, staffing, and facilities needs for the Giving Day on-campus celebration and the Reunion Weekend Greek Theatre Party
  • Develop strategies to encourage student participation at the Giving Day event, including education about philanthropy and incentives for undergraduates who attend/make a gift
Work with Annual Giving colleagues to meet office goals and objectives

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, along with the ability to work with diverse internal and external constituencies.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, as well as a high comfort level of working in a fast-paced environment and handling multiple projects
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team environment
  • Skill in the use of Microsoft Office software and fundraising databases
  • Experience working with and managing students or volunteers is preferred
  • Personal solicitation experience is preferred
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Experience in fundraising and/or working with students and volunteers preferred
WORK HOURS:
  • Full-time, exempt position
  • Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; 7.75 hrs./day; 38.75 hrs./week
  • Required to work evenings and weekends in conjunction with Senior Legacy Campaign meetings and events, as well as Advancement events and other University gatherings, such as, but not limited to, Family, Reunion, and Homecoming Weekends
SALARY STRUCTURE:

Pay Grade 6 (Hiring Range $47,154.00 to $62,483.00 annually)
