Chief Objective of Position:

As a member of the marketing and communications team, this position leads a team of photographers and videographers to create and distribute high-quality branded multimedia projects that promote the university through a variety of digital outlets.

Work Tasks:

  • Oversee and manage the operations and staff of the Visual Services team.
  • Provide leadership to the visual services team of photographers and videographers by scheduling assignments, providing support and feedback, and empowering creativity and professional development, including developing current and long-term departmental initiatives.
  • Conceive and develop creative solutions for addressing University initiatives through audio-visual assets.
  • Produce, edit and distribute media content as required which may include video production, photography, motion graphics, animation, audio and music.
  • Execute video and photo shoots on site/on location including lighting, audio, camera operation and talent direction.
  • Work closely with internal clients to determine content and format of productions.
  • Observe and promote brand standards.
  • Conduct interviews with students, staff, faculty, alumni and campus visitors and ensures that valuable sound bites are captured.
  • Scout shoot locations and assess possible obstacles in filming and provide solutions or alternatives.
  • Use sophisticated software and hardware to edit and assemble final visual/audio program material creating compelling and visually interesting products.
  • Maintain all equipment in proper working order including troubleshooting and minor repairs as necessary.
  • Attend meetings and offer development and production insight based on the requests.
  • Establish protocol for archiving campus visuals.
  • Provide digital photography for campus events and promotions as warranted.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise professional and student staff.
  • Provides a customer service approach to more effectively promote the "students first" initiatives ensuring that all constituents are served in a fast, friendly, efficient, and effective manner. Demonstrates a positive and professional attitude and treats everyone with dignity and respect. Fully supports CNU Traditions and the "students first" value at CNU and routine of going the extra mile in service.
  • Follow workplace safety regulations and adhere to applicable standards, processes, and programs established for your position.
  • Immediately report unsafe work conditions and work-related incidents to your supervisor and participate in accident investigation requests.
  • Promote a safe and healthy work environment by ensuring the implementation of safety regulations and applicable standards, processes, and programs established for employees under your supervision.
  • Report work-related incidents within 24 hours according to the procedures established by the university, state and federal guidelines.
  • This position is designated as a "responsible employee" who has the authority to redress sexual violence, who has the duty to report incidents of sexual violence or other student misconduct, or who a student could reasonably believe has this authority or duty.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSA's) related to position:

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include weekends, holidays and evenings
  • Ability to adapt to and make recommendations based on the evolving technology landscape
  • Ability to oversee and create video content for social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and Snapchat
  • Ability to develop suitable solutions and troubleshoot hardware and software
  • Ability to meet deadlines, solve production problems, and effectively manage all aspects of assigned projects
  • Ability to find and produce quality stories in multimedia with the ability to lend a creative perspective
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment with faculty, clients, and media representatives
  • Expertise in operating Video Cameras, SLRs (single lens reflex), EFP, lighting equipment, sound recording equipment, composing sequential shots, and editing
  • Excellent communication, writing, interpersonal, planning and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of new computer technologies and editing, graphic effects, and digital manipulation software
  • Knowledge of the internet and the web and its capabilities
  • Knowledge of multimedia and news gathering techniques, principles, and concepts
  • Knowledge of high quality encoding techniques for online distribution of videos
  • Extensive knowledge of media and motion graphics software, web content management systems, social media outlets and various audio/video/photo editing software such as Photoshop
Required Education:

Master's degree or a Bachelor's degree with experience that equates to a advanced degree.

Additional Consideration - Education:

Master's Degree or Bachelor's degree in video production, communications, media production or related field

Experience Required:

  • Previous experience producing and planning professional-level self-initiated and client-initiated multimedia programming from concept to broadcast for the web and other outlets.
  • Experience in scriptwriting, producing, directing and interviewing for video production.
  • Technical experience in videography, photography, lighting design, computer graphics, digital effects and computer video editing for the production of high-quality objective-oriented programming.
Additional Consideration - Experience:

Prior experience working at a college or university.

Salary Information:

Starting at $64,000, commensurate with education and experience.
