The department of Humanities invites applications for a tenure-track, 9-month Assistant Professor of English position in Eagle Pass, Texas beginning August 2025.
Required:

• Doctorate in English is required. ABD applicants will be considered, but appointment will be at the instructor rank and all degree requirements must be completed by February I, 2026.

• Two years of teaching experience (graduate student teaching experience accepted) in literature and areas such as writing in the professions, digital writing, technical writing or business communication.

• In-person teaching and advising in Eagle Pass, Texas.

Preferred:

• We welcome applicants whose primary specialization is in Professional Writing, Rhetoric and Composition, or a closely related discipline.

• We also welcome candidates whose research and teaching address digital composing and texts.

Primary Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities include the following:

• Teaching a 4-4 course load (summer teaching opportunities) of face to face, hybrid, and online undergraduate and occasional graduate courses

• Advising students and mentoring English majors' activities and organizations

• Demonstrating progress in research

• Participating in curriculum development and assessment

• Engaging in service to the department, college, and university

Position is security sensitive.

Texas Law requires a 60 day waiting period before eligible new state employees are eligible to enroll in health insurance.

The report also contains information about crime statistics for the three most recent calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in On-Campus Student Housing Facilities; in Non-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the University or a recognized student organization; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus.
