Job Description SummaryThe Department of Health and Exercise Science at Wake Forest University invites applicants for a full-time non-tenure Assistant Teaching Professor/Professor of Practice position to begin July 1, 2025, with focus areas related to wellness, exercise science, nutrition, and/or health promotion. We seek an individual with a commitment to excellence in teaching; a desire to mentor students; and a commitment to enhance the breadth, depth, and diversity of our Health and Exercise Science programs. The successful candidate will: (1) teach the Health and Exercise Science undergraduate graduation requirement course; (2) serve the department through academic advising and mentoring of undergraduate students; (3) participate in departmental, college, and university service. Depending on the candidate's expertise, other teaching opportunities may be available at the undergraduate level. Teaching Professor/Professor of Practice faculty at Wake Forest are eligible for all the same professional rights and resources afforded tenure track faculty, such as professional development support, departmental and college travel funds, and course release. This position is eligible for renewal and promotion with progressively longer-term contracts.Job Description:

Qualifications: A Master's Degree, in health education, exercise science, kinesiology, exercise physiology, public health, or a closely related field is required, Doctorate preferred. Additional expectations include teaching experience at the undergraduate level and mentoring undergraduate students.

The interdisciplinary mission of the Department of Health and Exercise Science at Wake Forest University is to advance the understanding of health and the prevention/treatment of chronic disease and physical disability. We are located on the WFU Reynolda Campus and host approximately 225 undergraduate majors and 18 master's level graduate students. The department has 9 tenure-track faculty and 5 teaching professionals. The department offers both B.S. and M.S. Degrees in Health and Exercise Science.
