Job Description

Title: Associate

Work site: Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP, 31 West 52nd Street, New York, NY 10019

Duties: Litigate, manage and try international arbitration matters before international tribunals and cross-border litigation matters before New York federal and state courts; research legal issues in both international commercial arbitration and international investment arbitration; interview witnesses to assist with the preparation of written witness statements and to develop facts of assigned cases; draft pleadings for international arbitrations, including requests for arbitration, statements of claim or defense, requests for interim measures, challenges to party-appointed arbitrators, post-hearing briefs, and costs applications; handle non-administered ad-hoc arbitrations; attend and assist with conferences and jurisdictional and merit hearings in international arbitrations; engage in discovery practice, including e-discovery; and attend hearings and trials to assist partners and senior associates.

Requirements: Juris Doctor (J.D.) or Master of Laws (L.L.M.) degree in Law and two (2) years of related experience as an Associate and must include: Drafting pleadings for international arbitrations, including statements of claim or defense, requests for interim measures, and challenges to party appointed arbitrators; Working with civil law systems including Latin American jurisdictions; Cross-examining fact witnesses and experts including delivering oral arguments in arbitration hearings; and Researching complex matters of law related to both international commercial arbitration and international investment arbitration. Requires license to practice law in the State of New York. Also requires 10% -20% domestic and international travel.

Hours : Full-time.

Salary: $153,254 - $225,000/year.
