Job Responsibilities:

Duties include the following:

  • Analyze the Life Science organization's business objectives and identify areas of improvement and opportunities for growth through use of emerging digital technologies;
  • Align with business process owners to ensure accurate understanding of user requirements and formalize such requirements through proper documentation;
  • Review user requirements and scope with both internal & external stakeholders and ensure accurate translation of the requirements into proposed system design and configuration;
  • Review and ensure project documentation and final output are compliant with Merck IT standards and policies;
  • Provide key inputs into the project plan to establish accurate baseline of timeline, costs and resources;
  • Partner with vendors to review documentation (including SOW and cost estimates), procedures and processes to ensure accuracy of deliverables, resource effort/cost and timeline;
  • Lead relevant business teams through IT processes and procedures such as data privacy compliance, risk assessment, system qualification and validation;
  • Oversee activities such as UAT, QA Testing, issue resolution, operational handoff and rollback mitigation plan development;
  • Support relevant IT teams during technology stack and architecture design, change control and platform security assessment activities to ensure adherence to baseline timeline and costs; and
  • Research and analyze industry trends and best practices to ensure that the Life Science organization's solutions remain competitive and digitally up-to-date.


  • Job Requirements:

    Employer requires candidate to have a master's degree in Business, Information Technology, or a closely related field and at least seven (7) years of work experience as a Digital Technology Solution Architect or related occupation working with digital products or services in the technology sector.

    In lieu of a master's degree in Business, Information Technology, or a closely related field, Employer will accept six years of post-secondary academic coursework in Business, Information Technology, or a closely related field (any combination of years totaling six years in each field would also be acceptable) and at least seven (7) years of work experience as a Digital Technology Solution Architect or related occupation working with digital products or services in the technology sector.

    Candidate must also have the following:

  • Demonstrated understanding of business analysis in the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry gained through five (5) years of work experience;
  • Demonstrated ability with project planning and execution, resource and stakeholder management, as well as risk and change management in regulated environments, gained through two (2) years of work experience; and
  • Demonstrated understanding of Emerging Technologies (EmTech) space in the pharma/life sciences industry gained through three (3) years of work experience.


  • All years of experience may be gained concurrently.
