Collections Specialist in Mesa, AZ

Temp to Hire position

Monday-Friday between 7:00AM-7:00PM

$19.50 per hour

Job Responsibilities:

• Stay updated on and comply with HEOA Disclosure and Regulation Z requirements, including Truth in Lending and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau standards relevant to collection activities.
• Conduct outbound calls, send emails, and issue letters to inactive students with overdue balances to secure payments.
• Meet and strive to exceed monthly collection goals.
• Perform the required number of collection activities daily and weekly to achieve account collection objectives set by your supervisor.
• Conduct skip tracing to locate borrowers.
• Assist the Collections Supervisor with data collection and report preparation as needed.
• Make 80-100 outbound calls each day.
• Utilize effective skip tracing skills.
• Maintain strong knowledge of all relevant system databases.
• Provide training support for new Collection Associates.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate's or bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a related field preferred.
• Previous experience in collections, customer service, or a related role is highly desirable.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective outreach to students via calls, emails, and letters.
• Proven ability to meet and exceed collection goals and targets consistently.
• Excellent time management and organizational abilities to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
• Proficient in skip tracing techniques to locate borrowers effectively.
• Proficiency in relevant system databases and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with collections software is a plus.
• Ability to work collaboratively with the Collections Supervisor and support training for new team members.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accurate record-keeping.
