Your New Company

We are a well-established small business construction company based in Capitol Heights, MD, specializing in general contracting, mechanical, electrical, architectural, and multidiscipline construction and renovation projects, primarily for federal agencies in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Your New Role

As a Construction Controller, you will manage financial operations including AP/AR, job cost accounting, payroll, and cash flow. You will develop and maintain internal accounting controls and financial reporting systems, collaborate with the operations team on budgeting, forecasting, and analysis, and oversee Work-In-Progress, job costing reports, and the General Ledger. Additionally, you will produce monthly financial statements, coordinate quarterly accounting reviews, annual audits, and tax returns, maintain state registrations, business, and tax licenses, ensure compliance with federal, state, and other regulatory requirements, identify and mitigate financial risks, implement internal accounting standards, and prepare financial statements, reports, and analysis.

What You'll Need to Succeed

• At least 10 years of experience in a similar role.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
• CPA or CMFA certification is strongly preferred.
• Previous experience as a
  Construction Controller or Assistant Controller at a G.C. focused on federal work.
• Proficiency in Timberline or Acumatica is preferred.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Flexibility to manage both accounting functions and personnel.
• In-depth knowledge of federal FAR regulatory requirements and GAAP.
