Job Title: Controller
Location: Highland Park, 90042 - on site
Employment Type: Contract, up to 6 months

Pay: $60-75/hr depending on experience, some flexibility

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Controller to assist our non-profit client. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical accounting skills, particularly in non-profit financial management, and be adept at closing out and auditing fiscal years. This role requires a proactive individual who can lead a small team, oversee daily financial operations, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of supervisory experience in accounting or finance, with a strong focus on non-profit organizations.
• Proven expertise in closing out fiscal years and handling audits.
• Proficiency in general ledger maintenance, financial statement preparation, budgeting, and AP/AR processes.
• Advanced Excel skills; experience with MIP software is a plus.
• Must pass a Live Scan background check.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage all general ledger activities, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Prepare financial statements and manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow activities.
• Supervise AP/AR, billing, and other financial operations.
• Manage fiscal year-end close processes, including audits and reconciliations.
• Ensure compliance with non-profit accounting standards and regulations.
• Utilize Excel and other financial systems for analysis and reporting; experience with MIP is a plus.
• Lead and mentor a small finance team, providing guidance and support in daily operations.
• Maintain internal controls and ensure adherence to financial policies.
• Collaborate with leadership on strategic financial decisions and reporting.
