Delta Star provides power solutions for utilities across North America. This includes the manufacturing of medium-power transformers, mobile transformers, mobile electrical substations, trailers, and unitized substations. We offer power transformers for utility applications including power and distribution, transmission voltages, system ties, and automatic voltage regulations, as well as industrial applications. Delta Star also provides comprehensive engineering, testing, maintenance services, and parts for any transformer manufacturer through our Field Service business unit, ensuring our customer's transformers and mobiles maintain peak performance.

Purpose

The corporate training manager is responsible for overseeing all learning and development activities within the organization. This role involves defining, development, and deploying Delta Star's learning and development (L&D) vision aimed at improving employee performance, productivity, and retention.

Main Responsibilities

The Corporate Training Manager will work in collaboration with the leaders to identify training needs aligned with the organization's goals, objectives, and the manufacturing environment. Identifies training needs and skill gaps to prepare the workforce for the future and capture and share institutional, technical and industrial knowledge.

Specific Duties

  • Needs Assessment and Planning:
    • Conduct regular training needs assessments across the organization to identify skill gaps.
    • Work with appropriate stakeholders to prioritize training programs based on organizational goals.
    • Design training schedules and calendars in coordination with various stakeholders, publish schedules on shared drive for organizational awareness.
    • Ensure proper communication of the learning and development offering (branding, messaging, etc.)
    • Facilitate learning and development activities and/or provide support (train-the-trainer, guidance, logistics, etc.)
  • Strategy and stakeholder engagement:
    • Engage with business stakeholders (executives, management, employees) to identify training needs, including leadership development, technical skills, and soft skill programs.
    • Create an engaging learning and development experience for leaders, managers, and employees.
    • Craft and champion learning and development efforts and offerings throughout the organization in partnership with local HR teams.
    • Research and implement innovative learning methods (leveraging the right technologies - virtual learning, webinars, blended learning approaches, etc.) to identify the right solutions to meet objectives.
  • Content Development:
    • Facilitate buy vs. build vs. borrow decisions for new content creation: partner with stakeholders to develop training content and/or partner with vendors to source content.
    • Lead the RFP and contract activities with learning and development suppliers.
    • Manager vendors in accordance with service level agreements (SLAs).
    • Ensure training programs remain compliant with industry regulations and standards.
  • Measure:
    • Define and capture the appropriate metrics to measure learning and development impact (ROI).
    • Report back on learning and development efforts and potential improvements according to metrics and feedback.
Education and Work Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (human resources, education, organizational development, business administration) or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in leading training and development within an organization.
  • Experience training in a manufacturing or industrial setting desired.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficiency in instructional design principles and adult learning methodologies.
  • Experience with e-learning platforms, learning management systems (LMS) and training software.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to track and interpret training metrics.
  • Project management skills to handle multiple training initiatives simultaneously.
  • Critical thinking skills with the ability to take initiative.
  • Desire to work outside of boundaries, drive change and foster continuous improvement.
  • Ability to read, write and speak Spanish & French, a plus.
Travel Requirements
  • Occasional travel to other sites for training delivery. Will require working across multiple time zones and global locations.
