Data Collectors are responsible for:
- Traveling frequently to selected locations; may include overnight travel
- Maintaining communications and tracking participants for follow-up visits
- Supervising biological data collection by participants
- Assisting participants with downloading study software on personal devices for intervention procedures
- Making in-person contact with selected respondents to discuss the study, answer questions, and obtain participation
- Collecting and maintaining confidential information and administering standardized questionnaires
- Maintain current knowledge of relevant developments in the field
- Independently managing administrative duties, including participating in conference calls and completing online trainings
- Transmitting data as scheduled
- Attending in-person or virtually attend scheduled meetings with other members of the project team
- Assuming full and legal responsibility for use and care of project issued equipment
- Safeguarding any participant incentives, issued equipment, or project materials against damage, loss, or theft
- Assuming responsibility for and carefully tracking all participant incentives
- Editing completed work, and reporting the results of all activities
- Submitting timely and accurate Time & Expense reports
RTI International is seeking full-time Data Collectors for Gathering Online for Dialogue and Discussion to Enhance Social Support (GODDESS), a study funded by the U.S. National Institutes of Health. The purpose of the study is to test a mobile health (mHealth) intervention for young Black women in Durham and Wake Counties in North Carolina. This study is recruiting 500 participants to take part in a trial with multiple follow-up appointments over the course of a year.
GODDESS builds on decades of research of a best-evidence, woman-focused intervention that addresses intersecting health issues through education, skills-building, and empowerment.
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years old at the time of employment
- Must possess High School Diploma or GED
- Possess effective communication skills through speech and listening
- Fluency in English through reading, writing, and speaking
- Available for entire training and data collection period
- Able to successfully complete training
- Must have a valid driver's license and reliable personal automobile available for business use
- Comfortable using RTI issued tablet, laptop and other associated equipment
- Access to password-protected Wi-Fi connection for data transmissions and administrative responsibilities
- Effective decision-making and task management skills
- Able to accurately account for incentive money paid out to respondents and request replenishments
- Able to obtain, safeguard, and submit all expense receipts for client records and reimbursement
- Able to keep project information confidential
- Willingness to work in various types of weather conditions and after dark
Preferred Qualifications for Ideal Candidates
- Data Collection experience preferred
- Positive, self-motivated, curious, and enjoy interacting with people from diverse backgrounds
- Effective time, schedule, and workload management skills to meet set deadlines
- Computer skills, namely email and internet proficiency
- Additional data entry skills and familiarity with online meeting platforms and social media for participant engagement
- Familiarity with the Raleigh-Durham, NC area and connections to local community organizations
- The data collection period is expected to be October, 2024 through March, 2027
- On average, you will be needed full-time approximately 40 hours per week when work is available
- On average, you should be available to work in the community site office 5 days each week
- The majority of this work is anticipated to be during weekdays during daytime hours. Ability to work evenings or weekends, if needed
- Each of your trips to the community site are expected to be at least 8 hours long
Project staff are required to complete trainings which include:
- Attend four-day on-site training in Durham, NC from October 14 - 18, 2024
- Successfully pass Human Subjects Training Certification
- Successfully pass project required trainings
- Required self-study trainings
- Attendance at all trainings is mandatory
