Hawthorne Gardening Company, a subsidiary of Scotts Miracle Gro, is seeking a Digital Experience Marketing Manager to join our marketing team. Remote or hybrid (Marysville, Ohio).
Job Summary
Part strategy & part execution, the Digital Experience (DX) Marketing Manager will join an established internal marketing team, contributing expertise in consumer experience strategy and digital execution. The manager will be responsible for informing and collaboratively executing content, channel & marketing plans. Additional responsibilities include: identifying and implementing platform integrations to deliver marketing plans, owning some external agency relationships, project management support, and hands-on tactical execution. While digital-heavy, an understanding of omni-channel marketing, considering the full consumer journey, will be critical to success in this role. This role is expected to have two or more direct reports.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Serve as the digital marketing lead
- Possess & apply an understanding of platform and channel expertise, from social media (organic and paid), email/CRM, web & eCommerce
- Contribute to the development & implementation of digital strategies & best practices
- Inform digital aspects of marketing plans & strategies - answer questions, participate in brainstorm & planning sessions, provide recommendations
- Monitor and analyze owned metrics & analytics, and work closely with cross-functional team to identify user behavior patterns, KPI improvements and trends, and opportunities for enhancement
- Contribute to performance reports on a monthly basis to keep stakeholders informed on KPIs
- Develop & execute consumer-driven content plans in partnership with the broader marketing team
- Develop content plans based on the intersection of marketing objectives & the consumer journey - identify content needs, determine how the content should come to life, and where it is served to the consumer
- Engage cross-functional experts (category, R&D, technical services, etc.) to develop content to meet the defined plan
- Collaborate with social analysts to identify external content partners
- Collaborate with web lead for SEO integration
- Project management of content development, along with the marketing manager
- Lead the social media team, currently comprised of two analysts:
- Set standards and expectations for social media best practices
- Work day-to-day with analysts to create content calendars, address questions, plan content shoots, and actively manage social media accounts
- Grow & develop direct reports through training and coaching
- Act as the CRM/Email Lead, working in partnership with external agencies as needed
- Posses a working understanding of CRM best practices, including CANSPAM, List Management, Benchmarks & KPIs, and Analytics
- Build, test & send B2B emails through Pardot and MailChimp, leveraging existing templates & processes, either independently or with an agency partner
- Report on performance, and develop optimization recommendations
- Contribute to the development of web projects in partnership with the internal Web team and external agencies
- Project management of consumer experience initiatives & digital marketing projects
- Manage agency partner relationships, invoicing, and budgets
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant work experience
- 5+ years of comparable experience in digital marketing, consumer experience or other relevant roles, corporate or agency
- Digital proficiency - Meta Business Suite, Wordpress, SalesForce, Pardot, Google Analytics, MailChimp
- Strong strategic and critical thinking skills
- Ability to influence and lead across the organization - across, up and down
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively across functions and personality types
- Strong presentation and facilitation skills
- Proven project management skills with experience balancing multiple priorities and deadlines
- Must know how to navigate a complex, cross-functional environment and add value
- Possess a strong work ethic with the ability to anticipate needs, work independently and take initiative
The starting budgeted pay range for this role will generally fall between $96,800.00 - $113,900.00. Hawthorne will consider various factors in determining the actual pay including your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location.
