About the Job

The Director, Business Insights & Solutions reports to the Head of Business Insights & Solutions (BI&S). This strategic thinker is responsible for shaping future market access strategies, leveraging their market access knowledge & deep insights, and applying their financial & analytical rigor to provide the proof that Sanofi's access strategies are grounded in facts and data.

Using actionable insights, analytics and strong partnership with market access shared & dedicated access teams, this position is also responsible for identifying overall strategies for executive partnerships and other cross-business unit/above brand initiatives to improve the company's long-term competitive success in the US healthcare marketplace.

This strong individual will be the financial & analytical rigor behind any strategy and innovative program that comes out of the BI&S team. Further, this individual will recommend strategic approaches and insights to the dedicated V&A and account teams based off the analysis that is conducted. As a dual strategy & execution role, this individual will have to balance the ability to think long-term and broad while providing the financial analysis to show short term ROI to get projects off the ground.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the strategy development and financial evaluation (e.g., analytical framework, ROI, etc.) of innovative contracting approaches that can be deployed for relevant portfolio assets.
  • Monitor and assess the US healthcare environment to identify trends and policy changes that may impact the pharma industry and/or company's current and future pipeline, including but not limited to changes in commercial reimbursement changes, changes to government programs (i.e., Medicaid, Medicare, 340B), new payment models, innovative pricing strategies, potential consolidations in the US healthcare landscape and ever-changing coverage/reimbursement model.
  • Development of intelligence analytics framework and innovation strategies for key customers (i.e. Commercial Insurers, PBM's, Medicare, Government, CMS and other emerging healthcare channels and technologies); also understand how market dynamics impact these healthcare players and how they run their business to make scalable strategies and recommendations for strategic planning, partnerships, and other initiatives.
  • Identify the estimated impact of healthcare landscape changes, including disruptors (tech companies, new distribution models, direct-to-customer models, etc.). The in-depth knowledge generated about the healthcare and political landscape will be leveraged to weigh the costs and benefits of proposed policies and/or external initiatives.
  • In collaboration with Value & Access, Policy, Government Affairs and Advocacy, develop business innovation strategies, concepts, and frameworks related to marketplace opportunities and/or risk mitigation; monitor and assess positions for healthcare improvement with Policy think tank organizations like Brookings, Commonwealth etc.
  • Responsible for the development of an annual long-range scan (3-5 years) with semi-annual or annual updates to regularly communicate with the broader organization, especially with the Value & Access organization, Global Market Access and US commercial teams to educate these functions on key trends and insights.
  • Work collaboratively with various internal stakeholders such as Value & Access, Commercial, Global Market Access, Policy, Government Affairs, New Product Planning and HEOR to identify key intelligence topics and related analysis requirements.

About You

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree required, MBA or advance degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry with minimum of 7 years in any of the following areas: pricing, contracting, analytics, finance, market access strategy and/or contract operations, market access consulting, direct payer experience.
  • Strong financial acumen and ability to forecast policy/payer trends into tangible impact.
  • Advance excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex problems and provide comprehensive solutions backed by analysis.
  • Highly skilled at conducting executive leadership engagements.
  • Thorough understanding of payer landscape (commercial and government) across established products, specialty products and rare diseases.
  • Experience working in channel contracting including buy/bill, retail and specialty pharmacies.
  • In-depth knowledge & understanding of US payer system and reimbursement challenges and opportunities.
  • Strong understanding of the complex and rapidly evolving factors influencing US market access, including reimbursement trends, payer concerns and healthcare policy.
  • Strong understanding of the US payer environment, payer market dynamics, payer marketing principles and how healthcare players make decisions across private & public channels.
  • Strong communication [to local & global leadership] and ability to drive influence across stakeholders to set direction, align work efforts, and ensure outstanding execution.
  • Strong analytical skills, demonstrated by the ability to identify and interpret complex issues and provide appropriate recommendations to senior management and across functional areas.
