Duties: The Institute for Translational Medicine and Therapeutics (ITMAT) supports research at the interface of basic and clinical research focusing on developing new and safer therapeutics. ITMAT is at the forefront of US academic institutions and globally, developing and implementing world class innovative educational programs designed to facilitate training of clinical and translational scientists and research support staff. This position will support the development and implementation of educational programs to support three new student populations: Investigational Pharmacists, Therapeutic Manufacturers, and Research Nurses.

The Education Coordinator will provide academic management to develop and implement the expansion of these educational offerings. The coordinator will work closely with the education director and program faculty leadership to move programs from needs assessment to program proposals, full program launch, and management of graduate curriculum. The coordinator will be responsible for assisting faculty in developing coursework and engaging internal and external stakeholders including external rotations with industry partners.

The coordinator has significant involvement in the admissions process across all ITMAT Education programs, specifically managing the IT system that processes applications. The coordinator will be the CollegeNet Chief Admissions Operations Person for ITMAT Education who will serve as the liaison to the Graduate Admissions Stakeholder group. In this role, the coordinator will represent ITMATEd and collaborate with the Office of the Provost to develop and maintain the Graduate Admissions software, personalized to ITMATEd needs. It is expected that his/her contribution will ensure that the process seamlessly manages student recruitment, application submission, application review, committee interviews, student selection, and registering new students.

This position collaborates with a team that supports a very large suite of fifteen discrete academic programs offered by ITMAT that provides educational offerings to > 300 trainees annually. Student learners are heterogeneous and include Penn faculty, postdoc and predoc trainees, undergraduates, and research professionals. The coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the logistical arrangements for new and existing courses; updating/revising curriculum materials; serving as the liaison between the students and faculty leadership; providing support to faculty instructors and program committees; assuming responsibility for tracking student progress, advising students during pre-registration, maintaining student records, and generating term audits. The Education Coordinator will maintain the website content for the various programs and publicize the program internally and externally. This position is also responsible for data analytics; developing, administering, and analyzing the evaluation data for the new programs. The incumbent will also work closely with the Director and related course faculty in grant writing for new initiatives and reporting on progress to funding agencies.

Qualifications: Experience in clinical and translational science at a large academic medical center is key. Candidates should have experience communicating with scientific audiences including senior level faculty, trainees, and research professionals. Candidates should have the desire to innovate on traditional education methods and manage online content delivery.

The minimum of a Bachelor's degree and 3 to 5 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, required. Master's degree preferred. Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with strict attention to detail. Personal initiative with strong project management and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, work cooperatively and effectively with diverse constituencies.
