Our Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. As an EHS Team Lead at Caterpillar Inc., you will assist the Environmental Health and Safety Manager in leading team members, coordinating and delegating workflow and overseeing day to day operation of area; promoting cooperative team relationships, establishing and modifying safety priorities, gathering and analyzing safety metrics, generating reports, overseeing work for multiple job classifications, etc. Occasionally performing various Human Resources related job functions.

Additional Information:

  • This role is for 1st Shift Monday - Friday 7am - 3pm
  • Located in Lafayette, IN (1627 Veterans Memorial Pkwy E, Lafayette, IN 47905)
  • Potential quarterly attendance bonus of $600

  • Ability to work overtime when required

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
  • Create badge access for all new hires and onsite contractors.
  • Database use and tracking of all active and inactive employees.
  • Management of safety shoe reimbursement program, safety glasses program
  • Management of safety onboarding and training on material handling equipment
  • Management of Environmental programs (water, recycling, electric/ gas consumption).
  • Communication to employees through training, signage, messaging
  • Safety and community campaigns (United way, etc.)
  • Participates in the development and implementation of safety programs such as lockout/tagout, confined space entry, fire protection, and other OSHA safety compliance programs.
  • Advises community regarding safety protocols and procedures to ensure the safety of staff as well as regulatory compliance as mandated by local, state, and federal agencies, including the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
  • Performs hazard analyses and recommends mitigation procedures.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of department safety work order tracking and reporting.
  • Conducts routine and follow-up environmental health, safety and hazard inspections of facilities.
  • Responds to emergency situations involving hazardous materials, fire and smoke incidents, or unknown hazards; prepares reports of findings and submits recommendations.
  • Analyzes accident and incident reports for trends; makes recommendations for correcting unsafe conditions and actions.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  • Lead meetings with multifunctional team to track performance and drive results
  • Regularly lead problem-solving events to drive continuous improvement
  • Accountable for tracking safety metrics and meeting Safety, Environmental, and Health goals
  • Lead investigations on facility incidents
  • Work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work OT when required
  • Lead team meetings guiding daily priorities and change management
  • Demonstrating safety excellence and enforcing safety policies and procedures
  • Continuously managing training matrix to ensure team flexibility
Basic Qualifications:
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency in mathematical and analytical skills
  • Working with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
  • Good attendance record
  • Ability to maintain accurate and complete records
  • minimum of High school diploma or equivalent
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
  • Previous leadership experience in a manufacturing or logistics operation
  • Demonstrated Lean Manufacturing experience
  • Previous experience in Safety, Environmental or Health Field

  • Starting wage is $23.35/hour (additional night shift premium for off shifts). Overtime opportunities paid at time and a half (some may be mandatory).

Summary Pay Range:
$23.35 - $29.15
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
