Position Overview
Reports directly to the Department Head - Senior Systems Engineer. Uphold the Subcom fundamentals of Purpose, Strategy, Values and Behaviors. Support the Subcom lean management business philosophy. Understanding and continued review of Subcom metrics for continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Electronics Supervisor aboard TCSC Reliance Class and Global Sentinel Cable Ships.
- Support, maintain, and initiate repairs to TCSC cable ship electronics systems such as, but not limited to: cable automation and monitoring, cable operations navigation and monitoring, ship navigation and monitoring, internal and external communications, computer hardware, software, and networks, User Support, ISO Calibration, and Safety Systems. AMOS Electronic Maintenance, History, Purchase, and spare parts system.
- Appropriate, timely reporting of all matters that are unsafe or unapproved modifications, affect regulatory, ET STCW Rest Hours or living conditions, cable operations, ship navigation, regulatory compliance, monitoring, and/or ISO Process 10 compliance to the Captain, Chief Engineer and/or 40-2121 Department Head as required.
- Adhere to all Subcom, TCSC, SMS, and CFR (when applicable) policies, processes, and work permit requirements. Support IMO/SOLAS regulatory compliance governed by the Flag State, Class Society, US Coast Guard, Port State Authority, and FCC.
- Support the Ship Officers, Crew, IP's, Rep's and other personnel as circumstances require.
QualificationsQualifications - Must be able to obtain and maintain a clearance from the US Department of Defense.
- Must be available for worldwide travel. Experience going to sea is beneficial.
- A degree in Electronics Technology/Computer Science, equivalent military training, or 4 years of experience with shipboard electronics is required.
- Experience with managing computers and networks is also required.
- Fundamental understanding of the technical principles of electronic equipment functional operation and maintenance.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Priority setting and logical troubleshooting ability required.
- Adaptable to the fluid [ship] schedules. Works well under pressure.
- Good knowledge of the technical principles of electronic equipment operation and maintenance.
- Marine electronics training and experience.
- Computer hardware, software, and network training and support experience.
- ISO9000/Quality Management experience.
- Must maintain a valid passport, a current TWIC, and be able to travel worldwide.
- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
