Definition: 
Under the direction of the Director of Engineering, the Engineering Supervisor directly supervises and is responsible for leading and coordinating various aspects of water and wastewater utility engineering. To ensure that the company's water system provides exceptional water service.

Distinguishing Features: 
This position is distinguished by his/her direct supervisory responsibility for the day-to-day activities of professional staff. The incumbent must provide sound engineering decisions related to the planning, design, construction, operation, maintenance, and permitting of the Company's water distribution system assets and systems. He/She is responsible for developing and sustaining a culture of continuous improvement and for effectively supervising multiple tasks associated with analyses and studies at any given time. Duties require the frequent use of initiative, judgment, and interdisciplinary teamwork involving contractors, consultants, and other personnel within and outside the Company. 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities: 
Supervise and develop short-term and long-term projects; act as the project lead to evaluate and develop project alternatives and project scope, schedule, and cost; collaborate with other departments to identify needed projects; communicate plans and results to the engineering director; lead and take on key responsibilities associated with water system master plans, preliminary designs, schematics, and tactical asset management plans; conduct field inspections and evaluate performance data for system infrastructure including pipelines, wells, booster pumps, reservoirs, and other assets and water supply assessments; analyze engineering and statistical data requests from, customers, and consultants. Participate as a key member in committees within and outside the Company as assigned; and perform special projects and written reports as required. Supervise, assist, and train junior engineering staff and technicians.
