The successful candidate will demonstrate responsibility and show initiative in fulfilling the duties noted below.
Essential Functions:
* Ability to read and understand basic measuring tools.
* Measures, examines, and tests completed units in order to detect defects; utilizes precision instruments including but not limited to micrometers, calipers, depth micrometer, and other inspection equipment as needed.
* Measure and cut metal materials to specified dimensions.
* Studies sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information in order to determine methods and sequences of operations.
* Operate basic shop equipment and machinery.
* Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work and/or fabrication.
* General metal shop fabrication, welding, cutting, sanding, assembly, and installation.
* Works from prints or drawings to produce a variety of items.
* Able to build small structural machine frame weldments from drawings.
* Follows all safety rules regarding machine operation and proper guarding.
* Follows all lock-out/tag-out procedures when machines must be shut down for repairs.
Education and Experience:
* High School Diploma or equivalent
* Graduate of technical school, or full apprenticeship program (Preferred)
* Minimum five (5) years set-up experience as a machinist.
