Volt is immediately hiring for Manual Machinist in Houston, Texas.
As an Manual Machinist you will:
- Set up and operate equipment, performing manual machining operations as assigned by the foreman.
- Work with Bridgeport Mills, Horizontal Boring Mill, and lathe (small and large machines).
- Machine features on metal parts ranging from .500" to over 84" in diameter.
- Use hand tools such as micrometers, calipers, scales, height gauges, and gauge blocks to perform in-process inspections.
- Create and execute machining plans with little or no assistance.
- Hold close tolerances of .001" and finishes of 32RMS or better.
- Read and understand blueprints and convert metric to inches.
- Follow written and oral instructions.
- Conduct in-process inspections.
- Stand, climb, kneel, and lift up to 40 lbs.
- Wear PPE at all times and observe health, safety, and environmental policies.
- Complete necessary documentation for each job, including filling out travelers and nonconformance reports.
- Notify Foremen of equipment problems and any non-conforming material.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
This is a full-time opportunity.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in manual machining (not just CNC).
- Product familiarity and at least 2 years of experience in a similar work environment.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- High school diploma or GED (preferred).
- Own basic machinist tools.
- Ability to operate a forklift and overhead crane.
- Reliability and punctuality.
Pay Rate: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
*Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
