POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Benefits & Leave Associate will be responsible for supporting all aspects of the organization's Benefits & Well being programs comprised of medical, dental, vision, life, workers compensation, disability, voluntary, and retirement benefits. This role will manage leaves of absence, workers' compensation, and accommodations. The Benefits & Leave Associate will assist employees with benefit plan enrollments and questions, leaves of absence, update the HRIS system for changes in enrollment and leave status, and respond to inquiries via Outlook and Jewish Board's internal ticketing systems. They should be able to answer questions and concerns that employees have about their benefits and leaves of absence, as well as work with third party administrators to coordinate benefits and leaves. The Benefits & Leave Associate will also assist with reconciling monthly premium invoice billing, as well as assist in ensuring compliance with federal and state requirements regarding employee benefit plan administration.

KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Providing support for the administration of all health and wellness benefits plans
  • Leading bi-weekly benefit presentations at new hire orientation
  • Completing data reconciliations to monitor benefit records, ensuring the integrity of data between systems and benefits carriers
  • Partnering with employees, vendors, and internal stakeholders to research and resolve issues regarding eligibility and enrollment
  • Auditing benefits enrollments to ensure compliance standards are met
  • Collaborating with Payroll and HR Operations to resolve employee benefits and leave issues
  • Responding to benefits and leave inquiries through ticketing system
  • Processing employee benefits and leave actions in the Jewish Board HRIS (Dayforce)
  • Administering leave programs and policies in accordance with the applicable federal and statutory laws employment laws (FMLA, ADA, USERRA, Pregnancy Discrimination Act, etc.), working in conjunction with third party vendors and other internal and external partners, where applicable
  • Keeping track of leave and related metrics and compiling regular and ad hoc reports
  • Managing caseload efficiently, organizing priorities, providing timely intervention, and maintaining sensitivity to confidential records
  • Providing support and resources in a way that addresses the unique needs of employees from diverse backgrounds, recognizing the impact of intersectionality on their experiences.
  • Review and respond to benefits mail from staff and vendors
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIRED:
  • Associate's required; bachelor's degree preferred

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED/LANGUAGE PREFERENCE:
  • 2+ years of experience in health and welfare benefits administration
  • 2+ years of experience managing leaves of absence required in New York; multi-state management preferred
  • Experience interacting with clients utilizing a professional and compassionate approach required
  • Experience in leave and disability administration is required
  • Extensive knowledge of employee benefits and leave laws, e.g., HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, ACA, etc.

COMPUTER SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (ex: Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) or similar software; Advanced Excel knowledge required
  • Experience with HRIS required, Dayforce preferred
  • Experience doing reporting required

VISUAL AND MANUAL DEXIERITY:
  • The candidate should be able to read documents for analytical purposes such as computer information, software, computer programs, etc.
  • Limited applications of manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL EFFORT
  • The offices at Jewish Board are accessible in accordance with the ADA.
  • To perform the essential functions of this job, the candidate is routinely required to sit (85% of the time) and stand (15% of the time).
  • This position is hybrid eligible; The current in person requirement is once per month and is subject to change. In addition to regularly scheduled in person work, staff are required to come in when requested.
