The Department of Mass Communication at Winthrop University is seeking an Instructor with a Master's degree and a minimum of 18 hours of graduate-level coursework in Mass Communication or relevant field. Candidates who can offer professional expertise in the industry, teach an array of undergraduate courses, and support the academic programs with a specific commitment to inclusion are strongly encouraged to apply.Priority will be given to applications received by December 1, 2024. The position will remain open until filled. Major Responsibilities:Teach undergraduate courses in a combined mass communication and integrated marketing and communications programCandidates will teach 24 contact hours each year with courses including broadcast journalism, TV production, multimedia storytelling, and film productionCoordinate and be able to efficiently operate TV studio equipment, streaming radio stations, podcast studios, and software such as Adobe Premiere and Adobe AuditionAdvise and mentor undergraduates and serve as faculty advisor to student organizationsCoordinate industrial partnerships, internships, professional organization engagementTeach courses in Winthrop's innovative General Education program as neededServe on university, college, and departmental committeesCommit to congenial and enthusiastic departmental collaborationsOther duties as assigned by the department chairAbout Winthrop University:Founded in 1886, Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina, offers its 6,000-plus undergraduate and graduate students an educational experience that blends liberal arts, professional programs, global awareness, and civic engagement.
