Our Solutions Engineering Physical IP team comprises some of the industry's leading experts in deep submicron circuit design! This position is a wonderful opportunity for you to work with our standard cell and memory design teams on innovative technologies! Your work will have a significant lasting impact on the standard cell team.

What you could be doing as a Physical Design Intern?

The successful candidate will work with a small team of dedicated engineers to:

  • Collaborate with circuit design engineering, layout, and software automation teams to build solutions that improve the design flow.
  • Evaluate and apply proprietary design techniques, internally developed software tools, and externally supported EDA tools to implement novel design and verification methodologies.
  • Maintain and improve a database of internally developed IP that drives the design and validation flows of standard cell libraries across multiple process technologies.
  • Contribute in all parts of the memory development flow.
  • Perform spice simulation source for tuning and margining of circuits.
We are looking for individuals who:

Are currently enrolled and studying towards a Masters or PhD Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering and are able to join our team for two consecutive semesters. Students with alternative degrees will also be considered if they have meaningful experience. We love to talk with people who are curious, motivated, and eager to learn.

Qualities that will help your application stand out:
  • Have an understanding of MOSFET electrical characteristics and transistor level device physics.
  • Experience with transistor level spice simulators such as SPICE or Spectre.
  • Programming and scripting skills in UNIX, Perl, Python, C++ or similar language.
  • Ability to debug intricate issues and clearly summarize and report the status to colleagues.
  • Good interpersonal skills with an analytical approach and adaptability and willing to learn how to use unfamiliar tools and systems.
