The Department of Anthropology at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville is seeking applications for a full-time lecturer position in Anthropological Archaeology to begin January 1, 2025. This is a spring semester, non-tenure-track appointment with the possibility of renewal contingent upon performance and funding. The Knoxville campus of the University of Tennessee is seeking candidates who have the ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the diversity and intercultural goals of the University. Teaching load consists of four lower division courses in archaeology per semester. Teaching duties include "Introduction to Archaeology", "Principles of Archaeology", and may include other established courses such as "Paleoindian Archaeology" or "Archaeology of Europe." Additional courses of flexible content based on the applicant's specialization (such as "Ceramic Analysis", "Lithic Analysis", or "Experimental Archaeology") and/or geographic focus are also encouraged, and a list of courses the applicant is prepared to teach should be included with the application.
Qualifications for this position are a Ph.D. in Anthropology or related field, with a special focus in Anthropological Archaeology (area and specialization open), and demonstrated excellence in teaching at time of appointment. Prior online teaching experience preferred. The candidate selected for this position must be able to meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time of appointment and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment.
