Position Summary

The Morgridge College of Education is looking to hire adjunct instructors for the 2024-2025 academic year to teach a variety of graduate courses in the Library and Information Science department. Courses may vary. More information about the courses can be found on the Registrar's Office schedule of classes at https://www.du.edu/registrar/course/scheduleofclasses.html. This posting will serve for multiple openings throughout the 2024-2025 academic year.

Essential Functions

Course Adjunct Faculty Responsibilities:

  • Teach in person or online once a week;
  • Create and maintain course Canvas container for the onsite courses;
  • Meet with students as needed to support their success;
  • Provide assignment feedback and grades to students in a timely manner;
  • Respond to emails from students and program leadership within 48 business hours
  • Participate in recruiting and informational events as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in relevant content area (e.g., Library & Information Science or equivalent from an ALA-accredited program)
  • Two years of professional experience in a library, archive, museum, or other information services setting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Teaching experience at the graduate level.
Work Schedule

While the University's administrative offices are open Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, faculty schedules vary from term to term and are based on courses taught, service commitments, and research agendas. Working Environment
  • Standard office environment.
  • Unexpected interruptions occur often, and stress level is moderate to high.
  • Noise level is quiet to moderate.

  • Physical Activities
  • Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period.
  • Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs.

    Course Rate

    $1,193 per credit hour taught

    The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, available market information, and course enrollment, but not based on a candidate's sex or any other protected status.
