In order to ensure your application is complete, you must complete the following:The Manager, Software Solutions and Strategy provides development technology leadership to support the Electronic Research Administration (ERA) vision of the Office of Research under the direction of the Senior Manager, Project Development and Software within the Enterprise for Research, Innovation and Knowledge (ERIK) Office of Research Information Systems (ORIS).
Evaluates emerging development trends, security practices, and user experience models for implementation within applications developed and offered by the Office of Research. Provides recommendations to leadership related to new or enhanced equipment, software, or programming.
Manages a team responsible for creating and supporting new application software using appropriate languages and technology as it relates to system development and engineering. Works with internal and external vendors to identify and execute cost-effective services to enhance the OSU research enterprise; interacts with other Office of Research units to develop and support strategic initiatives. Oversees the system software life cycle following development standards and processes; Oversees compliance with university policies on digital security, digital accessibility, and internal auditing; leads and supervises, including conducting performance reviews and supporting Information Systems staff members on the application development team.
With the Senior Manager, participates in creating short- and long-range goals within the applications development team. Works with colleagues across the university to develop efficiencies and establish relationships within the office. Manages the recruitment, onboarding, and training of new staff. Provides recommendations to leadership for staffing opportunities or enhancements within the development team.
Responsibilities:
60%: Leads and manages the application development team, including establishing software architecture patterns, peer code review, establishing coding standards, software documentation, establishing priorities for developers, and developer coaching. Manages a team that creates and supports new application software using appropriate languages and technology. May contribute to writing application source code, as needed. Evaluates emerging development trends, security practices, and user experience models for implementation within applications developed and offered by ERIK. Provides leadership with recommendations for new or enhanced equipment, software, or programming.
20%: Works with campus partners and external vendors on implementing new technologies in support of ERA business applications. Works with internal and external vendors to identify and execute cost-effective services to enhance the OSU research enterprise; interacts with other ERIK units to develop and support strategic initiatives. Works closely with colleagues across the university to develop efficiencies and establish relationships.
10%: Oversees compliance with university policies on digital security, digital accessibility, and internal auditing. Oversees the system software life cycle following development standards and processes; Works closely with the Senior Manager to create short- and long-range goals within ORIS.
5%: Research new technologies that can be used to improve current software applications. Works with internal and external vendors to identify and execute cost-effective services to enhance the OSU research enterprise. Manages the recruitment, onboarding, and training of new staff. Provides recommendations to leadership for staffing opportunities or enhancements.
5%: Identifies opportunities for professional development; performs additional duties as assigned.
