JOB DESCRIPTION

Wood is currently recruiting for a Civil / Structural Engineer with experience in the process and chemical industry to work onsite with our client in the Pittsburgh, PA area

Local candidates preferred as there is no relocation assistance or per diem. Authorization to work permanently in the U.S. without sponsorship required.

This position will require frequent movement, including trips around the facility for site surveys to include traversing stairs and ladders.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Contributes to project technical delivery through:

  • Use of technical knowledge to perform engineering assignments
  • Production of a range of engineering deliverables (including more complex tasks) with some guidance and direction from more senior engineers
  • Evaluation, selection, and adaptation of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform tasks
  • Ability to work unsupervised on most aspects of work
  • Development and review of designs, drawings, and other engineering deliverables involving both existing and new technology and applications


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the process and chemical industry
  • Bachelor's Degree (minimum) in a Civil / Structural Engineering discipline
  • Working knowledge of industry codes, regulations, and standards (ACI, AISC, ASCE, API, PIP, IBC, etc)
  • Increasing proficiency with industry software (STAAD Pro, AutoCAD, Fdn 3D, Mat 3D, LPILE, DSAnchor, RAM, MathCAD, etc)
  • Able to comprehend and interpret technical information applicable to the assignment / task
  • Able to create functional and cost-effective designs that meet project requirements with some support
  • Able to analyze and interpret civil / structural drawings
  • Proactively communicates across work groups to resolve barriers and applies sound technical skills
  • Conducts work in a professional manner
  • Good interpersonal and team working skills, builds positive relationships
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Creative and innovative in finding solutions
  • Enthusiastic, conscientious, and committed to continuous professional development
  • High level of awareness and commitment to safety in all aspects of daily work
