Position Summary
The Graduate Clinical Coordinator is a faculty member appointed at the discretion of the Dean to provide leadership and oversight of the clinical placements in the Graduate Nursing Programs.
Detailed Position Information
A. Administrative:
1. Work with the Graduate Program and Concentration Coordinators and the Associate Dean of Graduate Programs (ADGP) to ensure clinical student placements that comply with the most recent national standards and competencies (e.g., AACN Essentials).
2. Coordinate with UA Legal and the Graduate Clinical Placement Office to ensure clinical contracts with community partners.
3. Ensure Graduate students achieve satisfactory performance in the clinical setting in collaboration with each Program or Concentration Coordinator.
4. Collaborate with the Program and Concentration Coordinators, graduate faculty, and graduate program staff to ensure optimal student experiences.
5. Plan and participate in student orientation and simulation activities.
6. Work with the Graduate Program and Concentration Coordinators and the ADGP to evaluate program outcomes.
7. Work with faculty and students to resolve any concerns or issues.
8. Available to oversee the clinical contracts and placements during 12 months of the year.
9. Other duties as assigned.
B. Teaching:
1. Participate primarily in teaching within the MEPN program.
2. Participate in teaching in the Graduate programs as assigned.
3. Serve as a Course Leader for MEPN courses and other graduate courses as assigned.
C. Research/Scholarship:
Participate in research/scholarly activities in accordance with faculty role/rank expectations and workload guidelines.
D. Service:
Serve as a resource person for faculty and students in the Graduate programs and participate in service activities in accordance with faculty role expectations and annual contract.
Minimum Qualifications
A. Doctoral degree
B. Experience with prelicensure and graduate student supervision.
C. Current or eligible for multi-state licensure as a registered nurse in Alabama
D. Successful teaching experience
