This position is an off campus work study position, the student will report directly to a supervisor with Alpine Public Library with support from the Office of Civic Engagement & Student Assistance.

Required:

Must be Federal Work Study eligible. Must have transportation. Physical Requirements for standing for long periods of time, push library cart weight between 100-300 lbs, and lift/carry 15 lbs, ability to bend and stretch to reach high and low shelves.

Preferred:

Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions in English. An awareness of the purposes and functions of the public library -and the ability to learn routine library procedures.

Primary Responsibilities:

This position will support the services delivered through Alpine Public Library. The position will primarily be responsible for helping shelve and organize library collection materials, help prepare the library facilities for program use, check shelves and overdue items, and apply acquired knowledge to help customers locate materials. Applicants will be expected to:* Project a positive and pleasant attitude to the public* Cooperate and maintain an effective relationship with other staff members as part of a team.* Shelve library materials.* Locate requested items.* Put books in order on shelves* Assist staff with checking materials for damage and removing them from the shelves.* Adhere to library policies and procedures.* Perform any other tasks as requested.
This position is security sensitive.

The Annual Security & Fire Safety Report is available online at https://srinfo.sulross.edu/udps/The report contains information regarding campus safety and security including topics such as: campus law enforcement authority; crime reporting policies; campus alerts (Timely Warnings and Emergency Notifications); fire safety policies and procedures; programs to prevent dating violence, domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking; the procedures the University will follow when one of these crimes is reported; and other matters of importance related to security on campus. The report also contains information about crime statistics for the three most recent calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in On-Campus Student Housing Facilities; in Non-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the University or a recognized student organization; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus. The report also contains fire statistics for any fires occurring in an On-Campus Student Housing Facility during the three most recent calendar years.
