Description:
Care provided is appropriate to the age of the patients served, as defined in the scope of service for the practice.

* Monitors patients during invasive diagnostic and interventional procedures for arrhythmias, cardiovascular status change, pain, mental status change. Intervenes appropriately.

* Establishes and maintains ongoing communication with the invasive Cardiologist throughout the procedure to facilitate patient safety, treatment and diagnosis.

* Continuously monitors ECG for abnormalities and reports emergent or urgent rhythms to Cardiologist and other team members.

* Clinical experience with Telemetry stress testing

* Up to date arrhythmias- Examples:

  • Scanning holter monitors
  • Stress tests
  • Monitor Tech
* Cardiac experience - experience working with Electrophysiologist or Cardiologist

Experience with Remote Monitoring

Experience with Merlin, Carelink, Boston Scientific devices

Experience with Pacemakers/ICD devices

LEADERSHIP:

* Ensures that all assigned duties are completed.

* Takes responsibility for smooth operation and patient flow on a daily basis. Informs

Manager of problems in a timely manner.

* Performs other job related duties and projects as requested.

* Contributes to policy updates as requested.

* Regularly participates in gathering data for PI initiatives.

* Maintains up-to-date knowledge of procedures performed by acquiring relative continuing

education, seeking learning opportunities within the field of electrophysiology.

TEACHING:

* Provides patient with explanation of condition, as necessary and written information, when

possible.

* Recognizes and utilizes opportunities for health teaching of patients and relatives.

* Documents patient teaching and patient verbalization of understanding.

* Participates in clinical orientation of new staff when requested.

* Shares benefits of seminars attended with fellow employees.

* Assists management in the development of an updated and ongoing orientation process for

associates.

* Answers patient and family questions to insure understanding and provides emotional support for patients and families.

* Reports pertinent observations to the Cardiologist.

* Communicates clearly and effectively with physicians and other healthcare providers.

* Records and reports pertinent data completely and accurately to appropriate persons, ie: variances, equipment failure, etc.

* Collaborates regularly with all other clinical disciplines in the planning as appropriate.

* Assumes designated charge duties when necessary.

* Provides guidance to team members and serves as resource person to the team.

* Participates in the investigation of physician and/or patient complaints, takes action to

correct, and/or refers to Coordinator/Manager when outside scope of authority.

* Reports recurring guest-related problems to Coordinator/Manager and makes suggestions for changes in practice to solve problems.

INTERPERSONAL RELATIONS:

* Reduces patient's anxiety through calmness of own manner and by thoroughly explaining all procedures.

* Demonstrates the essence of "team" by acting in a positive, productive manner with co-workers and other department associates.

Minimum Qualifications:

* Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program or equivalent on-the-job training required.

* Certified Cardiovascular Tech preferred or equivalent experience

* BCLS from AHA certification required

* ACLS preferred

* EKG skills/arrhythmia interpretation required

Licensure:

* National Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
