Job Description:
SUNY Schenectady County Community College seeks a part-time Maintenance Helper in Facilities. This is a non-competitive civil service position that involves a variety of semi-skilled and unskilled tasks in connection with the maintenance, repair and cleaning activities of buildings, grounds and equipment. Work is performed under direct supervision from a higher level employee. The incumbent does related work as required.

Full Performance Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics:
Working knowledge of the various trades: carpentry, painting, masonry, plumbing and electrical; working knowledge of maintenance methods and practices; working knowledge of common tools and terminology used in maintenance activities; ability to carry out simple written and oral instructions.
Minimum Qualifications:
(A) Graduation from high school or possession of high school equivalency diploma and six months experience as a helper in any of the following trades: carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical; or in general building maintenance practices; OR
(B) One year experience as outlined in (A) above; OR
(C) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by (A) and (B) above.
Please note: Part-time experience will be prorated
Special Requirement:
Possession of a valid New York State Driver's License at time of appointment.
