The Vice President for International Affairs and the teams of staff in the Office of the Vice President for International Affairs (OVPIA's) offices are the stewards of international activity across all campuses of Indiana University. We provide strategic leadership and advocacy for all international programs and projects and coordinate the resources necessary to sustain their growth. Job Summary
IU Global is seeking enthusiastic individuals to serve as the welcoming first point of contact for visitors at the Ferguson International Center on the Indiana University Bloomington campus.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Serves as the primary receptionist at Ferguson International Center, ensures confidentiality, tact, and exceptional customer service.
- Manages in-person guests, directs or escorts visitors to the appropriate IU Global offices, accepts and distributes documents.
- Maintains the appearance and welcoming atmosphere of the front desk and lobby.
- Provides general administrative support to all IU Global units, including filing, copying, scanning, data entry, generating letters, preparing mailings, responding to emails, setting appointments, and other assigned duties.
QualificationsEDUCATION
Required- High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required- Some prior experience in customer service, higher education, or a related field
Preferred- 1 year of office experience

- Strong verbal communication and listening skills
- Demonstrated customer service skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work with diverse populations
- Possesses a high degree of cultural sensitivity (understanding and respecting cultural differences and practices)
- Maintains a high degree of professionalism
- Demonstrated time management and priority-setting skills
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidential information
- Competency with Microsoft Office suite, Windows, and standard office equipment.
Preferred
- Knowledge of the IU Bloomington campus
- Demonstrated interest in international affairs
Working Conditions / DemandsThis role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Advertised Salary$15.00 per hour
Work Hours15-20 hours per week
3 or 4 hour shifts between 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday - Friday.
