Department Information

The Office for Research Development (ORD) provides a wide range of strategic, proactive, and capacity-building services and resources that help to advance research, creative activities, and innovation at its earliest stages and beyond. Focused on helping increase faculty and institutional competitiveness in obtaining research funding through a variety of activities, ORD staff help faculty identify funding opportunities; manage internal funding opportunities and limited submissions processes; provide comprehensive proposal and grantsmanship support; offer workshops, cohort-training, research mentoring programs, and professional development; and facilitate strategic research partnerships and initiatives. At the core of all we do is a commitment to ethical and inclusive research practices.

Job Summary

This is a part-time, grant-funded position, currently scheduled to run from 2025-2029. It will report to the Vice President of Arts and Humanities Research. Given the nature of the position, the ideal candidate will be self-directed, forward-thinking, and skilled in long-term project management.

Department-Specific Responsibilities

  • Serves as representative/liaison between the artists, Indiana University, and the City of Bloomington and oversee logistics for the public art and wayfinding components of the Trades District City Campus Connection grant.
  • Assists contracted artists selected by Indiana University to realize six public art projects and wayfinding/signage projects in collaboration with City of Bloomington staff responsible for overseeing the installation of the public artworks.
  • Coordinates efforts between university, city, project managers, and artists for timely art installation and overall project execution.
  • Establishes and maintains project schedule and deadlines.
  • Plan regular meetings and agendas.
  • Serves as representative for IU's artistic contributions.
  • Manages apprentice program and other community artist components.
  • Oversees community outreach and publicity efforts.
  • Oversees purchasing, consulting contracts, and other financial needs.
  • Serves as project researcher.
  • Manages project communications for teams and partners.
  • Demonstrated experience in accomplishing multi-faceted projects requiring facilitation of multiple parties playing diverse project roles.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Required
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
Preferred
  • Master's degree in Arts Administration or MFA in a related art field
WORK EXPERIENCE

Required
  • 2 years working with a nonprofit or public organization
  • 2 years working in project management
Preferred
  • Experience working at IU or other large institution
  • Experience working on with public indoor and outdoor public art projects
  • Experience working with artists
  • Experience in art installation
SKILLS

Required
  • Proficient communication skills

Advertised Salary

$29.00 per hour
