The IU Center for Rural Engagement (CUE) improves the lives of Hoosiers through collaborative initiatives that discover and deploy scalable and flexible solutions to common challenges facing rural communities. Working in full-spectrum community innovation through research, community-engaged teaching and student service, the center builds vision, harnesses assets and cultivates sustainable leadership structures within the communities with which it engages to ensure long-term success. The center strives toward equity and inclusion by implementing and following antiracist principles.

The Center for Rural Engagement communications media intern will use written and visual assets to tell the story of rural Indiana and IU's collaboration with communities in the region.

Job Summary

We are seeking an IU student for a project-based internship with a rural museum partner in Spencer County, Indiana: the Santa Claus Museum and Village. Holiday World (formerly named Santa Claus Land) holds important significance for the State of Indiana. The museum is located 2 hours from the IUB campus.

Department Specific Responsibilities

• Physical and digital arrangement of letters to Santa that date back to the 1940s.
• Catalogs exhibit items, including photography of items.
• Files, purges, and organizes other items as directed.

Required

• Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES

• Possess a valid driver's license with the ability to be insured by Indiana University

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Advertised Salary

$15.00 per hour

Work Hours

16 - 24 hours per week depending on project volume.
