Position Purpose:

Responsible for loading steel into Shear and cutting to proper length.

Hourly pay range: $16.00 - $19.00

Essential Functions:

• Loads bundles onto shear
• Pulls tag off bundle and records information onto the shear report
• Gets new heat code for that bundle
• Tags boxes with proper information part #, heat code, date, and initials
• Pulls a 19' bar through shear to backstop cuts bar
• Takes that bar and checks measurement with ruler or tape ruler to make sure for proper length of shear report
• Makes sure the shear is making a clean cut if not get supervisor to change blades
• Makes adjustment to backstop if needed for correct length
• Pushes bar through again to backstop make another cut check length again
• If length is good, continue cutting bar until last cut, take and measure that for right bar end cut on shear report
• When done cutting for shift, hand in shear report and tags bundle
• Clean up around shear
• Unloading steel trucks
• Training on how to use the magnetic crane safely and responsible
• Other duties as assigned

Education and Training:

High school diploma or GED

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be able to read and write English

• Must be able to read and understand work instructions

• Must be able to read a tape measure or ruler

• Good verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to work well with others

Physical Demands:

• Ability to twist, bend and lift repetitively
• Ability to stand continuously for 8-12 hours
• Good physical conditions to lift up to 25lbs repetitively
• Good eye/hand coordination and good motor skills

Environmental Conditions:

• Exposure to loud noise

• Exposure to hot and humid conditions

• Double hearing protection and eye protection are required at all times in all production areas
• Steel toe boots with metatarsals are required at all times
