Join Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. in Fremont, CA, as a Quality Engineer III and play a role in improving Product, Process, Compliance, and Quality at the site-level in a small factory environment that manufactures high-tech products for the semiconductor industry.   • Collaborate with multi-functional teams to establish and implement robust quality control processes throughout the manufacturing and product development lifecycle (e.g., SPC, FMEAs).
  • Monitor and analyze manufacturing data to identify trends, defects, and areas for improvement; recommend updates or changes to improve product quality.
  • Lead and participate in quality improvement projects, focusing on overall process enhancements, scrap reduction, and supplier quality improvement.
  • Support the investigation and resolution of quality issues raised by customers, service teams, or sales teams, providing timely and effective responses and actions.
  • Perform root cause analysis for non-conformance issues and implement corrective and preventive actions to address them.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by using key process indicators and metrics to find opportunities for improving process effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Work closely with critical suppliers, supporting the Supplier Quality and Operations Engineering teams around supplier quality issues.
  • Define incoming inspection criteria and sampling plans for critical materials.
  • Mentor and train team members on quality tools and methodologies, such as statistical process control, failure mode and effects analysis, and 8-D problem-solving.
  • Develop and maintain quality standards, procedures, and documentation, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards, including ISO 9001.
  • Conduct internal ISO audits and product inspections to assess conformance to quality, environmental, and safety standards as well as regulatory requirements.
  • Build and maintain process/product documentation, including manuals and quality procedures.
How will you get here?

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering or scientific field or equivalent experience will be considered.
Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of quality-related experience in an ISO 9001 certified environment in a high-tech industry.
  • Quality certification (e.g., Six-Sigma, ISO, Lean, ASQ CQE) preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Knowledge of improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six-Sigma), auditing experience (leading internal or supplier audits), and statistical methods.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 or similar quality standards.
  • Experience with problem-solving and risk management tools (8D, CAPA, 5-Why, Fishbone, FMEA).
  • Ability to lead projects from inception to completion.
  • Experience in data analysis that may involve multiple factors and multi-functional areas.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work optimally with multi-functional teams, including international and multicultural teams, suppliers, and customers.
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.) and data analysis tools (e.g., JMP, Minitab).
  • Domestic travel < 10%.
