Job Description Summary
This Research Specialist (A or B) will contribute to research in the Murray Lab on mechanisms of cell fate specification in development. We use the embryo of the nematode C. elegans as a system to understand how cells are specified. The successful candidate will contribute to efforts to map gene expression and its regulation across all cells of these embryos by single-cell genomics approaches, and will learn and apply cutting-edge imaging approaches developed by the lab to test the roles of transcriptional and post-transcriptional mechanisms in development.

Job Description

Job Responsibilities:

RS-A

  • Generate and/or analyze single-cell resolution imaging and genomics data to identify patterns of gene expression and its regulation across development in C. elegans embryos
  • Contribute, using basic methods in C. elegans developmental genetics as well as learning cutting-edge imaging approaches to studies of developmental control mechanisms
  • Assist with basic lab management including media prep, scheduling and coordinating undergraduate research assistants
  • Perform additional duties as assigned


RS-B
  • Generate single-cell resolution imaging and genomics data to identify patterns of gene expression and its regulation across development in C. elegans embryos
  • Analyze single cell data to identify targets of key regulators and help design experiments to test these hypotheses
  • Contribute, using basic methods in C. elegans developmental genetics as well as learning cutting-edge imaging approaches to studies of developmental control mechanisms
  • Assist with basic lab management including media prep, scheduling and coordinating undergraduate research assistants
  • Perform additional duties as assigned


Qualifications

RS-A
  • Bachelor of Science and 0 to 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

RS-B

Bachelor of Science and 1 to 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Position is contingent upon continued funding.

$36,368.00 - $57,335.40 Annual Rate
Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile.
