Departmental Objective:

To provide excellent food and services to residents and students, faculty and staff.

Purpose of the Position:

Under the supervision of the Kitchen Manager, this role is responsible for preparing and producing Cold Station items, including those for the Salad Bar, Sandwich Bar, Desserts and Pastries. Key duties include managing daily and monthly inventories, and ordering necessary supplies such as fruits, vegetables, cold meats, desserts, and pastries for the designated areas. Additionally, the position involves performing other tasks as required, including line serving and cleaning.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Related to Position:

  • Ability to read and write
  • Basic math skills
  • Knowledge of all types of cooking methods by reading and converting recipes
  • Knowledge of all Kitchen equipment
  • Good organizational skills, ability to complete multiple tasks concurrently
  • Ability to communicate in writing or verbally to both supervisors and subordinates
  • Position will be exposed to temperature extremes and dangerous equipment, tools and machinery
  • Position will be exposed to slippery footing and congested work areas
Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Required :

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent education/experience that equates to a high school diploma

Additional Consideration(s):

Education:

  • ServSafe certified or equivalent food handler program

Experience:
  • High volume production experience
  • Experience working in a university/college setting
  • Supervisory experience in a kitchen in an educational or institutional setting
Salary Information:

Starting at $31,720, Commensurate with Education and Experience
