Job Title:Senior Career CounselorDepartment:Arts and Sciences | Center for Career and Professional Success

With direction from Director, Career Communities, career coaches coordinate programs and services that directly affect the quality and quantity of student outreach, engagement and activities that meet the career development needs of Arts & Sciences students (both undergraduate and graduate) and/or alumni job seekers. Applying advanced professional career coaching techniques and in partnership with various internal/external constituents, the incumbent will coordinate programs and services for multiple industry-focused career communities. Career Coaches also serve as primary instructors for the suite of elective, credit-bearing Career Success courses offered through the College of Arts and Sciences. As instructors, Coaches work directly with students to explore career opportunities, develop their skillsets, and connect with the Center's resources, programming, and partnerships. Coaches also consult with academic departments to actively integrate principles of career preparation into the academic experience of all ASC undergraduate and graduate students. In alignment with the Center's direction of providing customized service to constituencies, career coaches provide specialized coaching, consulting, and programming that advance the value of student experiences relative to their Arts & Sciences education. Coaches develop, coordinate, implement and evaluate career success services, resources, and programs for undergraduate and graduate students while fostering strong collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, industry employers as well as alumni as employers. The primary core of these duties is the development, integration and direct delivery of consultation and programming initiatives that positively impact student career and professional success. Such initiatives include the continuous growth and scaling of on-going (career/professional development) and new student programs (diversity focused, career connections, life beyond degree, career/internship weeks, career conferences, career course content and mentorship). Where needed, responsible for supporting the growth and stewardship of student and/or alumni related advisory boards that share the Center's vision for student career and professional success. Specifically provide leadership for and develop student networks and resources that enhance other industry connections (Industry Relations) staff members' knowledge and expertise about student and job seekers needs and expectations. Work closely with industry relations staff to develop, implement, and evaluate services and programs as well as to monitor, track, and coordinate industry relations' involvement with student organizations or related programs. The position includes some travel, weekend and evening work, and the successful completion of background check(s) including professional references and criminal history.

Required: Master's degree in higher education, student development, career counseling/guidance, human resources, industrial organizational psychology, business administration, or an appropriate field in Arts & Sciences; experience building strong rapport with academic departments and administrators; experience in program planning, administration, and evaluation. Four years of relevant experience.

Desired: Four years of experience in a college-level career success Center with employer recruiting activity; knowledge of and experiences with implementing contemporary practices in student outreach and engagement; superior knowledge of federal, state, and university regulations governing employment processes; successful track record of student/alumni relations and/or engaging employer partners for the benefit of successful student career outcomes; record of participation in regional or national professional associations; experience with Career Management System (Handshake) and student focused social media channels; demonstrated record of presentation and platform skills to effectively influence and inform small and large groups.

The pay range for this job profile is $51,000 - $67,000. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
