Description
The Crating & Shipping Associate plays a vital role in ensuring products are safely and efficiently prepared for shipment while adhering to company and customer specifications. This role involves building and securing crates, handling shipping logistics, and collaborating with the shipping department to meet delivery schedules. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and possesses a strong work ethic.
Key Responsibilities
•Measure products and build custom wooden crates tailored to various product sizes.
•Cut lumber to appropriate dimensions for crate construction.
•Safely operate tools, including pneumatic air guns and other carpentry equipment.
•Unload, stock, and maintain an organized inventory of lumber.
•Ensure products are properly secured within crates to prevent damage during transit.
•Serve as a backup for the shipping department, handling tasks such as UPS/FedEx
shipping, pulling orders, and packaging.
•Load and unload trucks to facilitate incoming and outgoing shipments.
•Assist in preparing shipping documentation and ensuring accurate labeling of packages.
•Willingness to learn or train in the position.
•Must have the physical and mental stamina to stand, walk, lift, and adjust to the noise and
lighting of the manufacturing environment.
•Other duties as assigned and not limited to just the above.
Key Requirements
•Proficiency in operating a radial arm saw, table saw, and pneumatic air guns.
•Ability to measure accurately with a tape measure.
•Experience with forklift operation.
•Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship.
•Physical ability to lift and handle materials safely.
•Familiarity with basic shipping procedures and systems (UPS/FedEx) is a plus.
