This position supports our workers' compensation line of business, Eastern Alliance and is based in Lancaster PA. Team members report to the office at least two times per month.

We may fill the position at a higher level depending upon candidate qualifications.

Job Summary:

The primary responsibility of a Software Developer I is to develop and maintain information technology solutions that support the company. The Software Developer I will work closely with the company's business teams and MIS team members to facilitate software changes that are beneficial for the company. New and existing applications will be developed or maintained utilizing a variety of software tools.

Essential Functions:

  • 50% - Under the direction of the Software Engineer Manager, utilize .Net, ASP, HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Crystal reports and other 3rd party tools to create and/or modify applications, websites, and reporting functions for the company.
  • 20% - Provides daily operational support which includes problem research and interaction with company employees, team members, and vendors.
  • 10% - Provides ad-hoc reports and/or data analysis to support the business.
  • 10% - Utilize Microsoft's Team Foundation Services to manage the software development change control process.

Secondary Functions:
  • 3% - Maintains procedure documents for routine processes.
  • 3% - Stays abreast of new tools/technologies.
  • 2% - Works with Software Engineer Manager on larger more complex projects/problems.
  • 2% - Monitors batch processes and escalate problems/issues to appropriate personnel.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in MIS, Computer Science, or related degree with minimum 3 years of experience preferred. Eight years of programmer related experience can replace the bachelor's degree requirement.
  • Understanding System Development Life Cycle Methodologies is preferred.
  • Experience with relational databases (SQL preferred).
  • Experience with report writers including SSRS.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • General familiarity with PC hardware and networking concepts.
  • Experience in .Net (VB, C#, ASP).
  • Experience with SharePoint, Flash, mobile platform, and web service development preferred.
  • Ability to independently acquire new skills as needed.

Position Salary Range$63,409.00 - $104,635.00The salary range displayed represents the entirety of the pay grade for this position. Most candidates will start in the bottom half of the range. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have, your location and comparison to other team members already in this role.
