We are looking for a Specialist, Product Development- Life Science who will join our team!
The biology specialist will be responsible for field, greenhouse and/or controlled environment testing of new or experimental products that may include fertilizers, growing media, lighting and/or other cultivation focused products. This position reports directly to the R&D Director and supervision will also extend from senior level biologists. Day-to-day activities will include, but are not limited to, design and application of treatments, maintenance of experimental areas, recording observations, and statistical analysis of data. Scientific curiosity, reliable communication skills, initiative and independence are also essential characteristics. The specialist will build an awareness of cross-functional experts in R&D, marketing, regulatory, sourcing, and manufacturing.
In this role you will :
Execution of trial requirements for laboratory, greenhouse and field experiments, including treatment preparation and application, and data collection and management.
Provide recommendations for improving experimental protocols/procedures as well as identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiencies Interpretation and presentation of research results to peers & leadership. Understanding and maintenance of specialized measurement tools for collection and analysis of data.
General Greenhouse and field space maintenance including plot mowing and fertilization and operating with 5S standards and practices. Ship chemicals, manage waste and chemical inventory, as well as support the company safety program
Engage senior biologists for test design and analysis support. Engage with project teams to develop new ideas, influence project execution planning, report trial results, and inform product design attributes
What you'll need to be successful:
-Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Agronomy, or Horticulture
-0-2 years of experience preferred

-Solid understanding of fundamentals of biological discipline

-Observational skills to identify visual differences in product performance
-Initiative to identify opportunities and increase their overall contributions
-Attention to detail, accuracy, and analytical skills
The starting budgeted pay range for this role will generally fall between $51,000.00 - $60,000.00. Hawthorne will consider various factors in determining the actual pay including your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location.
