ECS is seeking a Telecommunications Infrastructure Designer to work in our Albuquerque, NM office.

Job Description:

ECS is seeking a motivated Telecommunications Infrastructure Designer to support the Enterprise Infrastructure providing world class IT Infrastructure services in support of the client's mission and national security. Responsible for providing modern telecommunications systems, for data, telephone, wireless, LAN, RF Microwave, and encryption capabilities.

The candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of all copper and fiber optic transport systems. These transport systems carry the computer network and voice systems (phone) between and inside buildings, and finally to the end user's office.

Responsibilities Include:

In this position, the candidate will provide low voltage telecommunications infrastructure designs that meet industry standards, local & national codes and client design specification requirements. Designs will include all aspects of the information communications technology (ICT) infrastructure to include Outside Plant, Inside Plant, Horizontal Cabling and Telecommunications Spaces.

Includes meeting with end users/customers to define Scopes of Work, preliminary design for approval, final design, coordination with Facilities team. coordination of approved telecommunications contractors and follow up with customers.

Required Skills:

  • Well versed in NEC Codes regarding Telecommunications, BICSI Industry Best Practices, EIA/TIA Standards and IEEE Standards.
  • Demonstrated experience designing fiber and copper cabling network infrastructures, an in- depth knowledge of telecommunications industry standards (American National Standards Institute (ANSI)/Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA)/Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA)), and BICSI recommended practices.
  • Experience designing outside plant cable infrastructure systems and extensive experience designing structured cabling systems in local area networks in campus type environments is preferred.
  • Expertise with developing specifications and drawings associated with construction projects.
  • Associates degree with 4 years job related experience, in lieu of degree 7 years of job-related experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance.
  • Skills:
    • Foster an excellent relationship with both the Customer and team members.
    • Self-starter with the ability to prioritize and initiate activities while remaining flexible to changing priorities.
    • Must have strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite experience.
    • Experience with telecommunications testing equipment and tools.
    • Maintain a safe work environment by following standards and policies.
    • Enhance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and explore opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
    • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading technical publications and actively seeking new continuing education opportunities.
    • Can meet physical requirements of the positions such as, standing, bending, and lifting for duration of shift.

Desired Skills:
  • Active DOE "Q" Clearance
  • Current BICSI Registered Communication Distribution Design (RCDD) Certification
  • New Mexico Journeyman License ES-7J/ES-3J (Telephone Communications System and Telephone interconnect systems or higher) is desirable.
