Position Summary:

The School of Communication and Multimedia Studies at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) invites applications for a non-tenure track Instructor position in Television and Media Criticism starting in August 2025.

The ideal candidate should have expertise in Latin American and Latino/a Media and Cultural Studies with a particular focus on television. The successful candidate will teach courses such as Gender and Television, Minorities and the Media, Media Criticism, and other courses associated with our Multimedia Studies degrees in Film & Media and Multimedia Journalism. The primary location for this position is the Boca Raton campus. Ideal candidates will have research, teaching methods, and strengths in Media Criticism, Media Studies, Television Studies, Gender and Media, Minorities and the Media, or related fields.

Past teaching experience is highly valued, and candidates should strongly understand television and media history, theory, criticism, and analysis. This is a teaching-focused position, with a 4/4 course load during the academic year and the possibility of teaching a summer course. As FAU transitions to R1 status, we seek applicants capable of contributing to interdisciplinary collaborations with other academic units and pursuing opportunities for external grants. Summary of Responsibilities:

• Responsible for a 4/4 teaching assignment.

Minimum Qualifications:MA earned from a Communication/Media related program by the time of application; demonstrated excellence in teaching.

The selected candidate for this position is required to submit an official transcript sent directly from the institution for the Provost's credential file prior to the first day of employment. Similarly, for degrees from outside the United States, the evaluation by an organization belonging to the National Association of Credential Evaluation (NACES), with an indication of the documents the evaluation was prepared from (official transcripts, diplomas, dissertation abstracts) is required for the Provost's credential file prior to the first day of employment. Transcripts must be issued to Florida Atlantic University, not to the individual applicant.
