TRAVEL ADVISOR - VANCOUVER
Bring your customer service or sales experience to AAA! We are looking for a Travel Advisor to join our Vancouver location!
This role is responsible for providing basic travel planning and organization to members under the mentorship of intermediate-level travel associates while meeting sales goals while becoming eligible for a Travel Advisor II.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Responsible for selling international and domestic travel packages, including cruises, land packages, air, car, hotel, and activities.
Provide travel information and advise clients on all aspects of travel planning and reservations.
Provide excellent customer service and support the AAA membership model, including selling membership.
Present, promote and sell products/services using product knowledge to meet the needs of existing and prospective customers.
Provide recommendations to ensure the trip experience is tailored to the customer's expectations.
Address any travel-related issues or emergencies that may arise during the trip. Provide timely support on rebooking's and refunds.
Responsible for recommending and selling product enhancements for the customer's trip, including items such as AAA Member Rewards Credit Card, travel insurance, and international driving permits.
Stays informed about current travel trends, emerging destinations, and industry innovations.
Responsible for closing sales for walk-in, online and telephone customers to build client book of business.
Develop and enhance relationships with customers to build referral and repeat business.
Provide customer service as needed throughout the booking process to ensure customer needs are met promptly.
Maintains accurate digital records of bookings, payments, transactions, phone calls and meetings.
Meets/exceeds individual and company revenue and sales goals.
Participate in learning and development modules as directed by the AAA Training Department, including scenario-based exercises relating to how to sell travel products including cruises, tours, air, and hotels in order to reach Travel Advisor II level within designated timeline.
Build a foundation of travel industry knowledge including industry best practices, trends, and destinations.
Attend familiarizations, workshops, seminars, and conferences to enhance knowledge.
Train on best practices for lead generation and follow up to accelerate building individual book of business.
Contributes to a positive team dynamic through respectful interactions, positive contributions, and active collaboration to achieve department and organizational goals.
Incorporates AAA's vision, mission and values in day-to-day activities and behaviors; guides and motivates others to remain committed to AAA's vision mission and values.

WHO YOU ARE:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Travel Advisor I
High School diploma or GED
2+ years in customer service or sales role
Travel Advisor II:
High School diploma or GED
2+ years in the hospitality or travel industry (or equivalent)
OR
1+ year in travel industry with AAA Washington and acceptable performance, including required sales targets.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree
Prior experience working in hospitality or travel industry
Experience in travel sales and systems software
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Travel certifications in the form of a CTA or destination specialist certificate preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
Knowledgeable in geography and travel trends.
Ability to learn and absorb new processes, information, and procedures.
Ability to build rapport with a diverse range of clientele through multiple communication channels.
Ability to share travel knowledge and expertise from personal experiences and/or education study.
Competent in MS Office and navigating the internet.
Ability to handle confidential documents and information.
Ability to address multiple demands and competing priorities in a changing environment.
Skilled at working independently; able to prioritize and complete assignments with minimal direction.
Skilled in handling urgent situations professionally and willing to take extra measures when solving problems.
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally both verbally and in writing, including effective use of listening skills.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.

SALARY:
The flat hourly pay rate for the position is Travel Advisor I: $23.00 or Travel Advisor II: $24.00. Placement in Level I or II is based on candidate experience.
Eligible for 11% and up to 15%, commission based on travel sales production.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical environment is typical of a standard office space. It requires the employee to work inside for the duration of work. Must be able to remain in a stationary position, sitting for more than 50% of the time. This position will require occasionally moving about inside the office to access equipment, cabinets, etc. May work around office equipment which could be noisy, such as copiers and fax machines.
